A sweet kitten to go with a sweet romance. On today’s episode of A Cat and a Book, we are getting a gray kitten partnered with a sweet romantic comedy. Warning: I haven’t actually read this book. It’s on my kindle, and I’ve read the first page.
But before I go into more detail about the book, is this kitten not adorable? I would kiss that nose a bazillion times without hesitation. So! Cute!
According to the image details (which I licensed, as this kitten is worth it) this is a British shorthair. This is a freakin’ adorable shorthair.
Onto the book!
Falling for Your Best Friend’s Twin by Emma St. Clair has a cute cover, which caught my attention. The title does absolutely nothing for me. Honestly, these sort of titles tend to really annoy me, but I was searching for a book, and the cover was otherwise adorable, so here we are.
Sassy chick? Check.
Dude in Suit? Check.
Even before I checked the description, I spied an office romance possibly in the making? Let’s find out…
Here’s the description from the publisher:
There are a million and one reasons why I shouldn’t fall for my BFF’s twin… Too bad love isn’t reasonable.
Zane is my total opposite. He dates a steady string of women who are nothing like me. And there’s no way I would risk Zoey’s friendship over my teensy, tiny crush on her brother.
But when Zane hires me to help fix a glitch with his startup’s software, I run into two problems:
1. Someone on the inside seems to be sabotaging it.
2. Working with Zane every day sends my feelings into overdrive.
My master plan is to sniff out the rat, help Zane save the company, and get out while my heart is still intact. No biggie.
But somehow, I get roped into an investors’ spa trip. Which means spending a whole weekend with Zane and sharing a room with his date.
Kill. Me. Now.
This might serve to destroy my crush once and for all. If it doesn’t destroy me first …
Falling for Your Best Friend’s Twin is a laugh-out-loud, heartwarming romcom with opposites attract romance, couples’ massage disasters, and a healthy dose of forced proximity. Tons of sizzling chemistry with closed-door romance!
Will I love this book? Who knows. I hope so, but I thought I’d share what is next on my TBR list. As this book is available in the Kindle Unlimited library, it is only on Amazon.
Since I’m here, have some commentary from my real life:
I have been chosen by a hummingbird.
He She visits me every day, and he she makes sure I am feeding him her on time on the proper schedule. I think I’m the first person in my little area of the world who has a hummingbird feeder out, as they haven’t really started their migration in earnest. He’s She’s a sweet little Anna’s hummingbird, and he she understands how the door works, and tries to figure out how to get into my home when he she wants his her nectar refreshed…
My spouse has declared that I am not permitted to bring any hummingbirds into our home. I feel this is very unfair, as my winged suitor keeps trying to figure out how to open the door.
Sorry, little dude. You weigh less than an ounce. The glass patio door weighs substantially more than an ounce. This just isn’t a battle you’re going to win. But keep trying, because you’re adorable.
Note: upon looking for a picture of my winged suitor, I have learned that she is definitely a female hummingbird, which explains some of her behaviors, and why she finds my mobile to be fascinating. My mobile consists of plastic Anna’s hummingbirds.
Male Anna’s hummingbirds.
She seems to find them comforting, as she’s always hanging out around them and the feeder, so I suspect she thinks that they’re safe or some such. But she’s definitely a female. (She is too large to be a juvenile male.)
Here is a lovely picture of a female Anna’s hummingbird for your enjoyment. Isn’t she just beautiful?
I love hummingbirds, and I hope she’ll be around all spring, eventually with her babies. (The babies are just delightful.)
The hummingbird bird is sweet and the kittens are precious (almost but not quite in the Gollum way – but don’t tell my cats (or my husband)). I look forward to all three recommendations and definitely towards your book Ashley. Will your books become part of your Patreon universe or will you prefer to be completely separate at this time?
